SALSABILA DHOW

No fixed course. No other guests. Just the dhow, the wind, and the sea.

The Lamu Archipelago
as it was always
meant to be explored

Salsabila is a 70ft traditional jahazi dhow, chartered exclusively for your group and crewed by sailors whose knowledge of these waters has been passed down through generations. She sails the Lamu Archipelago at the pace of the wind — between deserted beaches and hidden islands, with a Swahili chef cooking at the bow and the open ocean all around you.

Days end on deck under a sky full of stars, white linen bedrolls laid out where the breeze is coolest. This is coastal Kenya, completely undiluted.

Step Aboard Salsabila

Rooted in centuries-old Swahili and Arab sailing heritage, Salsabila captures the spirit of the historic spice routes while providing every modern comfort.

The Decks

Life on board centres around the shaded main deck and open upper deck. Large cushioned lounging areas, a shaded dining area, and an alfresco kitchen at the bow make for effortless days at sea.

Sleeping Under Stars

Most guests prefer to sleep on deck on comfortable white-linen bedrolls, enjoying the cool sea breeze and extraordinary skies away from shore. Below deck cabin space is available for those who prefer it.

The Crew

Four traditional sailors whose skills have been passed down through generations, a Swahili chef, and a barman. Between them they know these waters intimately — every channel, every anchorage, every tide.

Swahili Cuisine

The onboard chef prepares fresh Swahili cuisine alongside light international dishes. Menus are tailored to your group's preferences and dietary requirements, served wherever the moment calls for it.

The Route

The wind decides — and that is exactly as it should be. Sail between Lamu, Shela, Kipungani, Kiwanoni and the remote reaches of Kiwayu Island. Every journey is different. None of them disappoints.

Activities

Snorkelling, fishing, waterskiing, birdwatching, guided walks of Lamu Town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and visits to ancient Swahili villages and traditional dhow builders.
